Transitions was all smiles on Dec. 6 as children from the Special Education Classroom in San Antonio celebrated International Day of Persons with Disabilities in Antigua. As with any occasion that pinatas and Pollo Campero are on hand, it was a wonderful afternoon and end to the school year.

 

Los niños de la clase educación especial de San Antonio celebraron El Día Internacional de Las Personas con Discapacidades el 6 de diciembre en Antigua.  Como todos los eventos con Pollo Campero y piñatas, los niños disfrutaban la tarde y festejaban el fin del año de la escuela.

My name is Juan Alberto Sandoval. I was involved in a severe automobile accident on October 14, 1996 that had a dramatic impact on my life, both physically and emotionally. After three years recovering in the hospital and numerous surgeries, I was able to return to my home and family.

 

Mi nombre es Juan Alberto Sandoval, el 14 de octubre de 1996 tuve un accidente automovilístico severo, el cual me dejo secuelas imborrables en mi vida física y psicológica.  Estuve 3 años hospitalizado logrando así que no me amputaran mi pierna derecha.

The Central American Wheelchair Basketball Title was safely returned to Guatemala in October when Transitions players took their country's colors to a tournament in Mexico. It was a turbulent road, sometimes literally, though the Guatemalans were able to secure their position as the best in the region, an amazing feat for the players and country.

Elias is a five year-old boy from San Lorenzo, a small village in Sacapequetez, Guatemala. Upon first meeting Elias, his countless abilities and strengths are much more evident than his disability. Eager, energetic, and curious, Elias has all the makings of an ideal student. Unfortunately, his opportunities to study are drastically limited because he is sordo (deaf).
